The almost 3,000 farmers Nyamiyaga washing station serve live in the Kamonyi District, in Rwanda’s Central Province. Here farmers selectively handpick cherry and deliver it to Nyamiyaga washing station. Here the cherries are floated and hand sorted to remove any visible defects or low-density beans. For natural lots, like this one, the perfectly ripe cherry is laid in a thin layer on raised beds to dry in the sun where it is turned frequently to ensure even drying.

The Kahawatu Foundation, their sustainability partner, invests heavily in yield improvements, farmer training, quality improvement projects, environmental sustainability and other ways to increase farmer livelihoods.

The flavours in this natural coffee from Nyamiyaga washing station meld together beautifully, with creamy notes of dark chocolate and butterscotch caramel, and sweet hints of berries, dried dates, and ripe cherries
