For three generations, the Vides family has been guided by a passion for coffee and an unwavering commitment to quality. Their story began in 1958, when Dr. Jorge Vides founded Finca La Bolsa in La Libertad, Huehuetenango. Although he worked full-time as a physician, coffee remained his lifelong passion. He transformed what was once native forest into a thriving coffee estate, planting Bourbon and Caturra varieties while laying the foundations for one of Guatemala's most respected farms.

Today, the Vides family continues his legacy, combining decades of accumulated knowledge with a progressive approach to cultivation and processing. Their philosophy is simple: respect the land, continually refine every stage of production, and allow each coffee to express the unique character of Huehuetenango.

Only fully ripe cherries are hand-picked before undergoing a carefully managed fermentation. The cherries first rest for 36 hours before pulping, after which the beans complete a further 48 hours of dry fermentation. Once the desired profile has been achieved, the coffee is thoroughly washed and meticulously sorted, ensuring only the highest-quality beans continue to drying. The parchment is spread in thin layers across drying patios and turned regularly throughout the day for approximately 15 days until the ideal moisture content is reached. This slow, controlled drying preserves sweetness, clarity and balance while showcasing the elegant character of the Bourbon and Caturra varieties.

In the cup expect a clean, elegant and beautifully balanced coffee, with refined sweetness and gentle fruit character for which the region is celebrated.  It is equally suited to a delicate filter brew or a refined espresso, offering comfort without sacrificing character.
