Nyeri Hill Farm is one of the oldest in Kenya. This AA coffee reveals the bright acidity, complex sweetness and red fruit notes characteristic of coffees from the famous Nyeri County.

Located just 3 km from Nyeri, a town renowned for its coffee, Nyeri Hill Farm is a vast estate managed by the Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri. It is one of the oldest and largest coffee farms in Kenya. Its washing plant was built in 1934, and production was initially intended for direct export to Italy.

With over 350 year-round employees, the farm and its annexes are renowned for being one of the largest employers in Nyeri County. True to its mission, it has been supporting the local community for many years by providing subsidised health and education services.

The high altitude, broad temperature range, annual rainfall and deep volcanic soil make for ideal growing conditions.

The ripe cherries are hand-picked and pulped on the estate and then hand sorted to remove underripe and defective cherries.

The parchment ferments for 12 to 24 hours. After fermentation, it is washed in clear water in sorting channels and then soaked in clean water in a closed circuit for about 24 hours. After soaking, the parchment is spread out on raised beds to dry for 7 to 10 days, and turned regularly to ensure even drying. Once dried, the coffee is shelled, sorted and prepared for sale.
