A vibrant and expressive washed Kenyan coffee from the renowned Kiamabara Washing Station in Nyeri County. Expect a cup bursting with juicy fruit character and refined sweetness, revealing notes of lemonade, orange, plum and blackcurrant, supported by the bright acidity and clarity that have made Kenyan coffees famous around the world.

Established in 1995, Kiamabara is one of two washing stations operated by the Mugaga Farmers' Cooperative Society, alongside neighbouring Gatina. Situated near the Kingu River and on the slopes below Mount Kenya National Park, the station serves a network of smallholder farmers cultivating coffee at high elevations in rich volcanic soils ideally suited to specialty coffee production.

Most contributing farms are small family holdings, often no larger than a quarter of a hectare, where coffee grows alongside crops such as bananas, maize, beans and macadamia. This diversified approach supports both household livelihoods and the long-term health of the land.

Harvested cherries are delivered daily to the washing station, where they are carefully hand-sorted before processing. After pulping, the coffee undergoes a traditional dry fermentation to remove mucilage, followed by thorough washing and density grading in water channels. The parchment is then soaked in clean water before being transferred to raised drying beds, where it is carefully turned and monitored over one to two weeks until the ideal moisture content is reached.

The result is a beautifully structured coffee that showcases the hallmark characteristics of Nyeri: vibrant fruit, sparkling acidity, layered sweetness and exceptional clarity in the cup. Elegant yet energetic, it is a coffee that captures the precision and consistency for which Kenya's best washing stations are celebrated.
