Roberto's farm in El Cielito is located in a small village in Santa Barbara.  He decided to plant coffee as his father had taught him.

Portillo's has always produced good quality coffee but sold to the conventional local market at low and irregular prices.

Over the years, Roberto's father divided the farm and gave it to his sons as an inheritance. About five years ago Roberto changed the farm's coffee variety to parainema giving him and his own son the opportunity to enter the specialty coffee market.
