Gisanga coffee is grown in the Mbuye sector of Rwanda's Ruhango District, located in the country's Southern Province.

The region sits between 1,650 and 1,850 metres above sea level on the elevated plateaus of the Congo-Nile watershed, an area renowned for its ideal coffee-growing conditions. With annual rainfall of 1,100 to 1,300 mm and average temperatures ranging from 18 to 20°C, the region provides a stable climate that supports both exceptional coffee production and local agriculture.

The Gisanga washing station serves around 850 smallholder farmers who are members of the Koakambu Cooperative. Together, they work with Tropic Coffee Ltd, a family-owned Rwandan coffee company established in 2015 that operates across multiple coffee-growing regions throughout the country.

The combination of high altitude, fertile soils and the dedication of local farming families contributes to the distinctive quality and character found in coffees from Gisanga.
