El Búho, meaning The Owl, is a regional coffee project bringing together high-altitude producers from Huila and Tolima. By carefully selecting and blending lots from these two renowned Colombian coffee regions, the project creates a consistently clean, vibrant and well-structured coffee, an ideal foundation for decaffeination.

Huila and Tolima sit at the heart of Colombian specialty coffee, where the meeting of the Andean ranges creates diverse microclimates, fertile volcanic soils and ideal conditions for slow cherry maturation. The coffees selected for El Búho are chosen for their natural sweetness and lively acidity, helping preserve their distinctive character throughout the decaffeination process.

This coffee is decaffeinated using the Sugarcane Ethyl Acetate (EA) method. Ethyl acetate, a naturally occurring compound commonly derived from fermented sugarcane, is used to gently remove the caffeine while helping retain the coffee's natural flavour characteristics.

The result is a decaf that doesn't feel like a compromise. Bright and clean, with lively acidity, sweetness and clarity, El Búho offers all the character of a beautifully processed Colombian coffee without the caffeine and without the typical muted profile sometimes associated with decaf.

A comforting, zesty and remarkably clean cup that proves great coffee can be enjoyed at any time of day.
