Three generations have shaped Finca El Paraíso, a hillside farm in Vereda El Naranjal, near Buesaco in Colombia's Nariño department. Today, José Ignacio Gomez manages 6.5 hectares of coffee, growing Typica alongside varieties including Caturra and Bourbon Rosa. Orange, lemon and avocado trees also grow across the farm, contributing to a diverse landscape and helping maintain the natural balance of the surrounding environment.

José grew up learning about coffee from his father, developing an intuitive understanding of quality that now informs every stage of production. During harvest, coffee is picked with the support of his family and a trained team before being processed at the farm's own micro wet mill.

This lot is processed as a natural, with ripe cherries dried whole around the seed. After careful hand-picking, the cherries are transferred to a solar dryer. Protected beneath a translucent roof, the coffee dries gradually in a carefully managed environment that uses natural airflow and crosswinds to regulate temperature. The cherries begin on the lower tier and are gradually moved upwards as they dry. This slow, controlled process allows the fruit sugars to interact with the coffee while preserving balance and clarity in the final cup.

Once the desired moisture content is reached, the coffee is transferred to the bodega for resting, allowing the flavours to stabilise before milling and export.

The result is a vibrant and layered expression of natural Typica, balancing bright fruit with depth and sweetness.

Expect notes of tangerine, golden kiwi and lychee, alongside a lively citrus character and a subtle, winey funk that adds complexity without overwhelming the coffee's clean structure.
