Finca La Bélgica is a historic coffee estate in El Salvador’s Tecapa–Chinameca region. The farm was acquired by the Denys family in 1913 and named in honour of their Belgian origins. The family’s story began with Jules Denys, who emigrated from Belgium to Central America in the late 19th century and eventually settled in El Salvador. Today, his descendants, the Samayoa Denys family, continue this legacy, combining generations of coffee-growing experience with a focus on specialty coffee quality.

The estate forms part of Café L’Étranger, the family’s coffee project, led by Ernesto Samayoa Denys alongside his wife Liza and their son Rodrigo. Their approach brings together careful cultivation, selective harvesting and considered processing, with an emphasis on preserving the character of each lot. The farm also uses shade-grown cultivation, supporting biodiversity and the surrounding natural environment.

This washed Bourbopacas offers a round, comforting cup, with notes of chocolate, molasses and caramel complemented by a gentle citrus brightness. A full body and medium acidity create balance, while smooth, chocolatey sweetness carries through to the finish.

Well suited to espresso, it is an approachable and satisfying expression of Salvadoran coffee, rooted in more than a century of family tradition.
