Lalesa coffee is grown in the heart of the Gedeb region, at a high-altitude, combined with the natural shade of the ensete (also known as "false banana trees"). These conditions favour a slow and homogeneous ripening of the cherries resulting in a complex aromatic profile.

Founded in July 2023, the Lalesa washing station has quickly become one of the most important in its region. Through the Ephtah Specialty Coffee structure, Wubit, a committed woman at the head of the project, works to build sustainable and collaborative supply chains. Her ambition is to make coffee a lever for social transformation, by supporting local initiatives such as the opening of a daycare centre or the Ama Commitment programme, designed to empower women farmers in rural areas.

This coffee is dried in the "slow dry" natural process. Coffee cherries start in thick layers under a shade providing canvas, which slows down the drying process extending it from 2 to 4 weeks. This allows for a gentle and controlled fermentation, which intensifies the fruity aromas and brings a characteristic liveliness to the cup.
