The story of Don Bolney and Doña Adeleine is one of resilience, sacrifice and determination. In 2011, the family made the difficult decision to leave their home in Tolima, where ongoing armed conflict had made life increasingly unsafe. Through the support of a friend, they exchanged their 13-hectare farm for a smaller seven-hectare property in Pitalito, Huila, giving their family the opportunity to rebuild in one of Colombia's most celebrated coffee-growing regions.

When they arrived, the farm was planted entirely with Caturra. However, the devastating outbreak of coffee leaf rust in 2015 forced them to rethink their future. Much of the farm was replanted with Castillo, a variety chosen for its disease resistance, but despite its resilience, the family found both its yields and cup quality fell short of their aspirations for specialty coffee.

Rather than settling for compromise, they chose a different path.

Today, the farm has been carefully renovated with varieties capable of producing exceptional coffees, led by the remarkable Geisha. Around half of the remaining three hectare farm is dedicated to this celebrated cultivar, with just 1,700 trees planted across 1.5 hectares. The low planting density reflects the nature of Geisha itself, its tall growth habit and expansive branches require considerably more space, but reward patient cultivation with extraordinary cup quality.

In the cup, expect an elegant expression of Geisha, where delicate floral aromatics intertwine with herbaceous freshness and vibrant tropical fruit. The profile is refined and layered, with remarkable clarity, silky texture and a long, graceful finish, an exceptional coffee that speaks as much to the perseverance of its producers as it does to the extraordinary potential of the variety.
